IJELLS – KLU Special Issue, September 2025

Dear Readers and Contributors,

We present to you a selected set of papers that were presented at the Two-Day International Conference on Digital Humanities, Cognitive Linguistics & Contemporary Literatures held in Hybrid Mode on the 11 & 12 August 2025 by the Department of English, KLU in collaboration with Cambridge University Press & Assessment.

This issue is an attempt to publish and make accessible the research that was presented during the conference. Hope it is thought provoking and leads to new frontiers of research in this ever growing and dynamic field of Study.

Dr Anu Lekshmi is an academician and avid researcher in the field of Gender Studies, Health Humanities, Modernity and Life Writing. She obtained her Doctoral Degree from the University of Kerala in the field of English Language and Literature in 2023 and is currently working as Assistant Professor at University College, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Beyond academia, Anu Lekshmi is dedicated to promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and engaging with the broader community.

Mr Anup Dadarao Atram is a researcher with a deep interest in literature and social issues. Currently he is working as an assistant professor of English at Indirabai Meghe Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Amravati, Maharashtra. He is pursuing his research on Alienation. His writing often explores themes of marginalization, human struggle, and alienation. Passionate about storytelling, he believes in the power of words to create awareness and change. This is his first contribution to an anthology.

Dr Sandeep P Joshi is a poet and a research guide with a deep interest in literature and feminism. Currently he is working as an assistant professor of English at PG Department of English, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University Amravati, Maharashtra.

Ms Varla Aruna Kumari works as a lecturer in English at SRR & CVR Government Degree College (A) in Vijayawada. She has done MPhil in Acharya Nagarjuna University and a PGDTE in EFLU. She has a two-decade-long teaching career and published research work and research papers presented at conferences. She is a life member in ELTAI.

Ms Aathira S is a research scholar from Sadakathullah Appa College, specializes in digital humanities and partition literature, exploring geospatial narratives and literary mappings to bridge history, memory, and contemporary scholarship.

Dr Audrey Sandrilla Pengal is an accomplished academician, researcher, and administrator with expertise in English, communication skills, mentoring, and curriculum development, committed to fostering holistic student growth and professional excellence.

Dr Narayana Bashyam is a dedicated Associate Professor and Soft Skills Trainer with over 28 years of distinguished experience in academia. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at CVR College of Engineering. His subject expertise spans Business Communication, Cambridge B2/C1 Empower Assessment, Employability Skills, and Gender Sensitization.

Mr Braj Kishor Gupta is a PhD Research Scholar in English at Presidency University, Bangalore and the author of ‘Take Your Giant Step Now’ (2023) and Editor of ‘The Covid-19 Pause: Uncommon Tales of Common Folks’ (2021).

Dr Ajith K is working as an Assistant Professor of English in the Department of English at the School of Liberal Arts, Presidency University, Bangalore.

Dr Brian Mendonça is a poet, traveller, and a blogger. His recent publications include studies on Dalit literature; prison literature; protest in the 21st century; and T. S. Eliot’s The Wasteland. His poems have been anthologized in The Penguin Book of Poems on the Indian City (2025) and Goa: A Garland of Poems (2017).

Dr Debabrata Hazra is currently working as an Assistant Professor of English at Sreenidhi University, Hyderabad, India

Mr Dinesh Raja V is a PhD Research Scholar in the PG & Research Department of English, National College (Autonomous), affiliated to Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. His research interests include Travel Writing, Narrative Theory, Ecocriticism, and Digital Humanities.

Dr V Srividhya is an Associate Professor & Research Supervisor in the PG & Research Department of English, National College (Autonomous), affiliated to Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. Her academic interests include Literary Theory, Cultural Studies, Postcolonial Literature, and Digital Humanities.

Ms Entisar Showai Ahmed Al Sunboly is a research scholar in English at Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded, specialising in Linguistics and Literature. Her academic work explores the intersection of literary studies with linguistics through sociolinguistic representation.

Ms Harini K is a PhD Research Scholar in the Department of English, Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai. Research Interests include Psychoanalytic literary criticism, trauma studies, memory studies and comparative literature. Has presented papers at National and International Conferences and has published research articles in reputed journals.

Ms Himanshi Gadhia is currently working as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of English at Vanita Vishram Women’s University, Surat. She has over six years of teaching experience and is presently pursuing her PhD in Ecocriticism. Her research interests include Ecocriticism, Environmental Humanities, and Literary Theory.

Ms Iqra Khan is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at MU College and possesses approximately 5.5 years of teaching experience at both national and international levels. She has presented and published more than eight research papers in various national and international conferences. She holds a PhD. and has also complected the CELTA.

Mr Jagajit Manotosh Patra is an Assistant Professor at the Department of English, Utkal University.

Mr Joshua Arul Raj H, Full time Research Scholar, Department of English, School of Arts and Science, Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation (Deemed To be University) Chennai, Paiyanoor.

Ms E Kalavathi is a Research Scholar, Department of English at Koneru Lakshmaiah Education and Foundation along with my Supervisor Dr E S Sharmila Sigamany Associate Professor, Department of English at Koneru Lakshmaiah Education and Foundation, Vaddeswaram.

Dr J Kalpana is a Lecturer in English with 20 years of teaching experience. She holds an MA, MPhil, and PhD in English. She received her PhD from Acharya Nagarjuna University. She has qualified both APSET and UGC-NET. Her areas of academic interest include contemporary literature, Canadian studies, and literary criticism.

Ms Juzzuru Kavitha. Research Scholar, Krishna University, Machilipatnam. I have been pursuing my PhD under the guidance of Prof Dr N Usha. My research area is Indian English Literature.

Prof Dr N Usha is a professor at Krishna University. She has guided so many scholars under her able guidance.

Dr N Kavitha has 11 years of teaching and research experience, area of specialisation being Post Humanism, Cultural Studies and Digital Humanities. Served as Member, the PG Board of Studies, Department of English, University of Kerala, from 2020-23. Published 15 research
papers in National and International journals, Presented Papers in more than 25 Conferences,
delivered invited lectures, guided and awarded 5 PhD candidates and guiding 4 PhD candidates.

Ms Manisha Berwal, a postgraduate in English from Kurukshetra University, pursues research in Digital Humanities and English Literature, exploring interdisciplinary approaches that integrate technology with literary studies and cultural analysis.

Mr Namamula Murali Mohan is a research scholar, JNTUK University in English in Indian Literature. His scholarly interests are diaspora, identity, and language with publication contributing to interdisciplinary perspectives in humanities.

Ms Neha Rathi, Assistant Professor of Psychology at IIMT University, specializes in counseling and positive psychology, student well-being, and digital media’s emotional impact, with publications in Scopus-indexed and peer-reviewed journals

Ms S. Nirmala Nigil Bhavan worked as a lecturer of English for 14 yrs in Indonesia, presently at St. Joseph’s College for Women, Kurnool, A.P. She is also, a research Scholar of Monad University, UP.

Ms Prerana Sana, an independent author, researches gender, power, and identity, focusing on myth, culture, feminism, digital storytelling, and Indigenous archives to restore agency and explore narrative sovereignty and resistance.

Ms G Pushpalatha is a Ph.D. (Part-time) Research Scholar at Quaid-e-Millath Government College, Chennai and working as Assistant Professor of English at St. Anne’s College, Chennai. Her research interests include Indian Literature.

Mr Rahul More is a research scholar from V G Vaze college, Mulund, affiliated to University of Mumbai. His research interest is animal emotions and zoo criticism He had presented a research paper on Technology-Enhanced Language Learning: Strategies, Impact and Challenges.

Dr P Rajitha Nair is a dedicated academician and researcher with over 32 years of extensive teaching experience across Engineering Colleges, and Spoken English Institutes. She currently serves as an Associate Professor of English and Head of the Department of English at Guru Nanak University.

Dr U Ramesh Babu is Head, Department of English at Government Degree College, Ravulapalem, Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema Dt.

Ms V Ramya Sudha has completed BSc, BEd, MA English literature. She is currently working as a High School Teacher at ZPHS, Rangampeta, Andhra Pradesh. She is a published author and a prolific writer.

Ms T Sharon Raghukar, an MA Gold Medallist, is a dedicated scholar currently pursuing her PhD at Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. She has a keen interest in publications and actively works towards contributing valuable insights to the academic community. With her dedication and proactive mindset, she is poised to make a significant mark in academia.

Ms Shiwali Sharma is a research Scholar in School of Social Sciences and Humanities, VIT-AP University, Andhra Pradesh. She holds M.A in English (2018) from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, J&K. The broader area of her research is Life Writing studies. She has an experience of teaching as an Assistant Professor in Cluster University of Jammu.

Ms Shreya Shubhangi is a research scholar in the Department of Languages at Presidency University. She holds a Master’s degree from Jaipur National University and a Bachelor’s degree from Banaras Hindu University. Her research interest includes structuralism and narrative discourse studies.

Dr Sayani Banerjee is a Linguist by passion and profession. She is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Languages, at Presidency University, Bengaluru. Her research areas include Semantics, Discourse Studies and Cognitive Linguistics.

Dr Kongari Shyam Sundar is Assistant Professor of English with over 28 years of teaching and research experience in India. He holds a Ph.D. in English Language Teaching (ELT) from Osmania University (O.U.), Hyderabad. His expertise includes English language teaching, curriculum design, English Language Communications Skills, Advanced English Communication Skills labs., soft skills, and employability training.

Dr Illur Prem Kumar is an English Language Educator with over 16 years of teaching and research experience in India and abroad. He holds a Ph.D. in English Language Education from The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad. His expertise includes English language teaching, curriculum design, Advanced Communication Skills Language labs, soft skills, and employability training.

Ms Snehal Bhandakkar (Rakhunde) is a Research Scholar at Nagpur University, Nagpur.

Ms Soni Gandepudi, an Assistant Professor of English at Government Degree College in Ravulapalem, inspires students through creative instruction, research, and training, equipping them with the communication skills and values necessary for both academic and personal development.

Ms Tanami Roy Choudhury is a Research Scholar at Department of English, Vasantrao Naik Government Institute of Arts and Social Sciences Nagpur

Dr Harish Tapadia is an Assistant Professor at Department of English, Vasantrao Naik Government Institute of Arts and Social Sciences Nagpur

Ms Tanuja Chundru is a research scholar at Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education (Deemed to be University), Vijayawada, and also serves as a Senior Assistant Professor of English at Sri Vasavi Engineering College, Tadepalligudem. She published 8 research articles in international journals and 6 book chapters in conference proceedings. Her research interest includes English Language Teaching.

Mr Venkata Ramana Manipatruni is the Head and Assistant Professor of English at Sri Vasavi Engineering College, Tadepalligudem, India, and also a research scholar at Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation, Vaddeswaram, India. He has published 3 research articles in the ELT domain, indexed in Scopus. Additionally, he has published 10 more articles in other international journals.

Dr T S Rajeswari is an Assistant Professor of English at Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation, Vaddeswaram, Andhra Pradesh, India. Her research interests include English literature and language. She has published 11 research articles indexed in Scopus, as well as a few articles in other international journals.

Dr P Venkanna works as an Assistant Professor of English, Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, with 27 years of academic experience, actively engages in research and writing on American and Commonwealth literature.

Mr Md Zabiulla Khan I is an educator currently serving at Government Junior College, Doddaballapur. He is presently pursuing a PhD in Applied Linguistics with a specialization in English Language Teaching (ELT) from Tumkur University, Karnataka. His academic interests lie in multilingual education, language policy, and the integration of technology into ELT practices, with a focus on improving pedagogical outcomes in the Indian classroom context.

Dr  Monbinder Kaur is an Associate Professor in the Department of Studies and Research in English at Tumkur University, Karnataka, India. She has over 20 publications in UGC CARE listed journals and chapters in edited books. She has successfully executed three research projects funded by UGC, ICSSR and Tumkur University. She is currently supervising four candidates for Ph.D. Her areas of interest include Indian writing in English, Diaspora studies, Dalit Studies, Writings from North-East India, South Asian Studies and American literature.
